Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Dots: A Lifestyle Journal ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App. These Terms supplement Apple's standard End User License Agreement (EULA). In the event of a conflict, Apple's EULA will govern.

Description of Service

Dots is a personal journaling and lifestyle tracking application that allows you to record daily events, track patterns, and gain insights into your habits and routines. The App stores your data locally on your device and optionally syncs via your personal iCloud account.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any accounts associated with the App. You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You are solely responsible for the content you create within the App.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its systems
• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair its functionality
• Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the App or any part thereof

Subscription & Billing

Dots offers a free tier with core functionality and a premium subscription ("Dots Premium") with additional features.

• Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account via the App Store
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings under your Apple ID
• Any price changes will be communicated by Apple and will apply to future billing periods

Refunds & Cancellation

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not have the ability to process refunds directly. To cancel your subscription, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your device and select Dots. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, features, and content (excluding user-generated content), is owned by Stephen Craton and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You retain full ownership of all content you create within the App. We do not claim any rights to your journal entries or personal data.

Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. The App is not intended to provide medical, health, or professional advice. Always consult qualified professionals for health-related decisions.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. Because Dots is a local-first app with no account requirement, your data remains on your device and under your control. We may discontinue the App or remove it from the App Store at any time, but this will not affect copies already installed on your device or your locally stored data.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or via email if you have subscribed to our newsletter.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
